Website Development Cost in Sri Lanka: How to Compare Quotes

By LexoraTech

A website quote is only useful when you know what it covers. A small business site with supplied copy is a different project from a multilingual catalogue with customer accounts. Compare the scope and ongoing responsibilities before comparing the final price.

Start with the customer action

Decide what the website should help someone do: request a quotation, book an appointment, understand a service, or buy a product. That decision shapes the pages, content, integrations, and testing required.

For example, a service business may need a homepage, three service pages, project evidence, and an enquiry form. Adding online payments changes the scope: payment-provider setup, failed payments, order records, and refunds need their own requirements. A brochure-site quote should not be treated as a quote for that entire system.

What changes the cost?

Page count is one factor, but a reusable service-page layout takes different effort from a booking flow. Content readiness, custom interactions, languages, integrations, and editing needs can matter more than the number of URLs.

  • Content: who supplies, edits, translates, and approves text and images?
  • Functionality: forms, accounts, search, bookings, payments, or integrations?
  • Editing: which pages must your team update without a developer?
  • Quality checks: agreed mobile devices, accessibility checks, performance conditions, and form testing.
  • Delivery: revisions, approval dates, migration, redirects, and launch responsibilities.

Separate the build from recurring costs

Ask for a separate list of domain renewal, hosting, email, paid software, and ongoing maintenance costs. Confirm who owns each account and who receives renewal notices. If the quote uses a foreign currency, agree the payment currency and conversion terms in writing.

A bug-fix warranty and ongoing maintenance are different commitments. A warranty addresses defects within the agreed delivery; new pages, new features, dependency updates, and operational support should have an explicit scope.

Compare like-for-like proposals

Place proposals beside the same checklist. Look for included deliverables, exclusions, payment milestones, source-code ownership, account handover, and acceptance criteria. A cheaper quote may leave content, migration, or support to you; a larger quote may include work you do not need.

LexoraTech provides written milestone quotes after reviewing requirements. We do not publish a universal website price because the agreed scope determines the work. Our separate five-day automation offer is not a price for every website project.

Prepare a brief that can be estimated

Send your business goal, proposed page list, existing website address, available content, required features, preferred launch window, and approximate budget. Mention any systems that must connect to the site. Avoid sending passwords or customer records in an initial enquiry.

If the scope is uncertain, start with the smallest complete customer journey. A site that clearly explains your service and reliably captures an enquiry can be a useful first release; additional workflows can follow as their value becomes clearer.
